One Church: Two Worshipping Communities /

Sunday services are central worship events for the entire church community.

Early in 2004, we launched a church plant within our building. People are encouraged to commit themselves to one of two worshipping communities that meet on Sundays. However, an integrated staff team and Church Council serve both congregations, and GCBC resources and building space are available to both.

Both services seek to nurture a worshipping milieu that reflects the diversity of the neighbourhood we are a part of, while at the same time celebrates the richness of the church seasons that move us in a calendar year through the birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At times through the year, we seek to have celebrative events that involve both congregations, affirming our connection together. Examples include Easter & Christmas services and events, congregational meetings, church anniversary celebrations, and so on.

Morning Worshipping Community: 10:30 am, Sundays
This time celebrates God’s presence through music, sharing, prayer, Scripture and the spoken word. Children’s programming is available from nursery through grade 7 during the service. On the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate the Lord’s supper in a special communion service, which is followed by lunch together.

Evening Worshipping Community: 5:00 pm, Sundays
A smaller, and more newly formed gathering, the evening gathering also celebrates God’s presence through music, sharing, prayer, Scripture and the spoken word. The Lord’s supper in communion is celebrated at every service. Informal children’s options are available and are being developed.
