Resources for Worship: June 21st

Ways to Worship at Home

Hello Again Grandview Community!

Below are a few offerings that you can choose to use as you enter into worship this week. As always, we trust you will also use your creativity to embrace worship in your homes and neighbourhoods lots of other ways.

  • AUDIO SERVICE:
    • This week, we are continuing in our experiments with an audio-only service. In spite of all the things that aren't part of this type of service, we hope that in this audio-only offering you find some surprising gifts.
    • Ideas to help you listen:
      • find something to do with your hands so that you can more easily focus on what you hear (e.g., playing with clay, colouring, building with lego, knitting)
      • download the audio, put your headphones in, and take it for a walk while you listen
      • if you are feeling isolated, plan to listen together with someone, or intentionally connect once you've both listened.
    • Accessing the service:
      • The audio file can be played right here:
      • OR, listen from the Sermons page.
      • You can also listen to the service wherever you find your podcasts (look for the most recent episode from "Grandview Church").
  • PDF Storybook: Read along with the audio scripture passage, created by some of the kids in our community: Matthew 15 Storybook.
  • Announcements:
    • The Berry family, and Laurie have recorded our announcements this week! Find the video version here: June 21 Announcements
  • SONGS: There are a couple of new songs included in this week's audio worship service. Yay! Some other songs from previous weeks are on our Songs page.
    • And if you are a musician and don't have access to our song database (Gospel Software) please email [email protected]. We would love to set you up with an account so that you can access song lyrics and chords to play at home.
  • FEEDBACK: Thanks for those who offered feedabck about last week's service! We appreciate your thoughts.
    • We have gotten lots of questions about when things might get "back to normal" for our church gatherings. On Wednesday June 24th at 7pm we will be hosting a Zoom conversation to talk about that. We will also be soliciting feedback on the various offerings we have had for worship at home and other ways we are being church in this physically distanced time. Watch your emails on Monday for the link and a set of questions! (Or contact the office for more info.)
  • Prayer Cards
    • Have you received your morning, evening and sabbath prayer cards in the mail yet?
    • If you would like to receive these, but don't think we have your address, email [email protected].
    • See also the digital versions of the prayers and letters that were sent out on our main Resources for Worship At Home page.
  • Tithes and Offerings:
    • Have offerings you would normally bring on Sunday? Visit the Giving page.
  • BULLETIN Check it out for the latest church and community news.
    • If you have something you would like to add to the bulletin, please email the office: [email protected].
  • Other Ideas
    • Read again Matthew 15:29-34
    • Ask these wondering questions:
      • What was your favourite part of the story?
      • What part do you think was the most important?
      • What are ways you have asked for help by your neighbours?
      • How have others asked you for help?
    • Phone a friend:
      • Reaching out to someone in our congregation, or a neighbour. Seek the care of God by offering caring for others. Email the care team for folks who may be in need of connection, OR if you yourself are seeking someone to connect with you: [email protected]
