Resources for Worship: June 28th

Ways to Worship at Home

Greetings Grandview Church Community!

Here, a few offerings that you can choose to use as you enter into worship this week. As always, we trust you will use your creativity to embrace worship in your homes and neighbourhoods in lots of other ways.

  • AUDIO SERVICE:
    • This week, we are continuing in our experiment with an audio-only service. In spite of all the things that aren't part of this type of service, we hope that in this audio-only offering you find some surprising gifts. We certainly have!
    • Ideas to help you listen:
      • find something to do with your hands so that you can more easily focus on what you hear (e.g., playing with clay, colouring, building with lego, knitting)
      • download the audio, put your headphones in, and take it for a walk while you listen
      • if you are feeling isolated, plan to listen together with someone, or intentionally connect once you've both listened
    • Accessing the service:
      • The audio file can be played right here:
      • OR, listen from the Sermons page.
      • You can also listen to the service wherever you find your podcasts (look for the most recent episode from "Grandview Church").
    • (Big thanks to Nato W for editing the service this week!)
  • Announcements:
    • Thanks to Johannah W for creatively recording our announcements this week. Audio announcements are included in the service, but we definitely recommend watching the colourful video version here:

  • SONGS: There are a couple of songs included in this week's audio worship service. :)
    • If you are a musician and don't have access to our song database (Gospel Software) please email [email protected]. We would love to set you up with an account so that you can access song lyrics and chords to play at home. (And maybe even record a song or two that we can use in our services!)
  • FEEDBACK: Thanks for those who offered feedabck about how you've been doing during COVID and also how you've received our worship offerings. We really appreciate your thoughts.
    • Remember to fill out the survey that was sent to you if you haven't already done so. The deadline is this Monday. We look forward to sharing the results with you in the coming weeks! (Contact the office if you need the link.)
  • Tithes and Offerings:
  • BULLETIN Check it out for the latest church and community news.
    • If you have something you would like to add to the bulletin, please email the office: [email protected].
  • Other Ideas
    • Read this week's scripture Matthew 17:1-13
    • Ask these wondering questions:
      • What griefs do you carry during this time?
      • What gifts have you experienced?
      • In what ways do you feel you are participating in God's story, even if it might look different than it used to?
    • Phone a friend:
      • Reaching out to someone in our congregation, or a neighbour. Ask for help. Seek the care of God by offering caring for others. Email the care team for folks who may be in need of connection, OR if you yourself are seeking someone to connect with you: [email protected]
    • Ask for prayer: [email protected]
    • Reach out to Jodi: [email protected]
    • Health concerns? Email our parish nurse: [email protected]

    • GRADS! If you haven't had a listen yet, you should: our own youth Naia Lee was interviewed on CBC about graduating high school during this pandemic: What it's like to graduate high school in the middle of a pandemic
    • SAVE THE DATE for next week's service:
      • July 5th Zoom service at 10:30am
      • Gathering to bear witness to the work of God among us even in this distanced time.
      • You'll be invited to get together with your home group after this service (or later in the week) to share your own experiences of meeting God in this time.
      • More details coming soon via email!
