Advent

We are in the midst of Advent, a season of anticipation and holy waiting. In Advent we remember back to the time when Jesus was born, when people in Palestine were waiting for a king to come save them from the oppression of  the Roman Empire. As we enter into the Advent story together, eyes open for the birth of the Christ Child who would grow up to become a different kind of king, we are aware of the injustices that still happen in our world. We long for the return of the One who will bring healing to all of creation.

Each Sunday we mark the journey through Advent by lighting candles. By this light, we find our way. Let the little children come

Children's Worship in Advent

We're pausing in our All-in/Focus rotation for the coming season. During each Sunday in the season of Advent, children and adults will participate together in the worship services with Advent candle lighting, wondering about that Sunday's liturgical art & story, lots of singing, Communion and lighting taper candles in prayers of hope. Before Communion, there will be a 15-20 minute homily for everyone in grade 5+ (young folks and adults) leading us through the weeks of hope, peace, joy, and love towards Christmas. During this time, there will be toddler care available and an Advent-themed session in the lower hall for children age 3 through grade 4. We look forward to journeying as a church family along the road to Bethlehem.

Advent at Home booklets - digital copies are available for small groups, families and households. Explore or adapt ideas for all ages for anticipating the coming of the Christ child during Advent.
