During the Easter season, we are offering two opportunities for our church community to continue to learn about racism and pursue racial justice by listening together to Jemar Tisby, a noted scholar in history studying race, religion and 20th century social movements, the New York Times Bestselling author of The Color of Compromise, and president of The Witness: A Black Christian Collective where he writes about race, religion, politics, and culture. https://jemartisby.com/

Book Study: How to Fight Racism by Jemar Tisby:

Beginning Thursday April 22th we will host a six session book study, based on Jemar Tisby's guide to his most recent book: How to Fight Racism: Courageous Christinaity and the Journey Toward Racial Justice. This study will follow from our intro session to the book on April 14th.

Tisby's latest work includes, from a Christian perspective:

  • a framework for confronting racism in relationships and everyday life
  • a clear model for how to think about race in productive ways and dismantle racist structures
  • opportunities for the church to pursue to racial justice in ways that are transforming and offer hope

Book study dates are April 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27 from 8-9pm on zoom. Book study participants will have a zoom link emailed to them each week to enter the upcoming session. Interested? Email us to see if the study has spaces available for new participants.

How do I get a copy of the book? The church has ordered 15 copies of How to Fight Racism, which should arrive by the beginning of April. Please email us to reserve a copy. Books are $30 each but please let us know if cost is an issue.
